Biography:

I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I received a B.S. in General Biology and a M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland. After graduate school I moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, and worked as a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. During the next several years I worked on various research projects across the country. My favorite work experiences include working on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge surveying tundra habitats, in Barrow, Alaska studying Stellar’s Eiders, and in Maui, Hawaii working on a Maui Forest Bird project.

After working as a field biologist for many years I took time off to raise my daughters.  During this time I was certified to teach fitness classes and as a personal trainer.  I taught fitness classes for CSI, Blaine County Center for many years prior to teaching for the Biology Department.

Over the past twelve years, I have been teaching for the CSI Biology Department.  I currently teach Biology 105 (Human Structure and Function), Biology 100 (Fundamentals of Biology),  Biology 102 (Environmental Science), AGRI 180 (Food Systems Science), as well as Biology 277/228 (Anatomy & Physiology).

I live in Hailey, Idaho and have two daughters  (ages 23 and 26).  My older daughter graduated in May 2020 from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Political Science and History.  My younger daughter also just graduated in May 2020 from the University of Portland and with a major in communications.

In my spare time I love to spend time with my daughters, trail run, hike in the mountains, downhill and Nordic ski, swim, travel, read, and go birding throughout the beautiful state of Idaho!  My most recent adventures include traveling in Europe with my daughters for two weeks and vacationing in Hawaii over the Winter Break (I needed to visit my daughter)!  Other personal highlights include amazing backpacking trips in the Sawtooth and Pioneer Mountains, running the Boise Foothills Frenzy - 50K and completing the Boston Marathon on April 17, 2017.  More recently I completed the Honolulu Marathon, which was held on December 6, 2019.  This was a fun race, the fourth biggest marathon in the country, and it began a 5 am to avoid the heat (it was still 83 degrees when I finished)!
