CSI Early Childhood Education Kindergarten Lab

The College of Southern Idaho Kindergarten Lab is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children 5-6 years of age. Teaching practices include: inquiry/project based learning, development of executive function skills, and the development of problem-solving skills. The content of the curriculum covers Literacy, Math, Science, Engineering, Technology, Creative Arts, Social development, and Physical development. We teach with the belief that learning is inherently interesting to children, and that they are naturally curious. We work to strengthen a love of learning.

With teacher support and guidance children will develop projects to guide their learning. They will do in-depth study in a project which includes a goal they are working toward. This approach gives children a purpose in learning and is very motivating. The skills and knowledge they learn are then readily applied to multiple settings. The curriculum meets Common Core Standards.

Why CSI Kindergarten Lab?

  • The curriculum includes literacy, math, science, engineering, technology, creative arts, social development, and physical development.
  • We are an inquiry/project-based school. We take on units of study based on student interest and complete projects to show what we have learned.
  • We have a low student to teacher ratio, which means children receive daily individualized instruction.
  • We follow best practices in Early Childhood Education. As part of the College of Southern Idaho, we pride ourselves on staying up-to-date on the latest research in our field and implementing best practices in the classroom.
  • The curriculum meets the Common Core Standards for kindergarten.
  • We believe in fostering a love for learning in children and assisting them in developing their natural curiosity and desire to learn.
  • The CSI Kindergarten Lab is a full-day or half-day program. It works as a stand-alone program or as enrichment to other kindergarten programs.
