Institutional Effectiveness

Professional Development Grant Guidelines

The Purpose of These Funds

Supporting the professional development of our faculty and staff to improve access to nationally recognized best practice conference events with an expectation that successful applicants plan a campus discussion, implementation, or dissemination activity.

On a competitive basis, these grants provide opportunities for CSI faculty and staff to attend national conferences (i.e. NISOD, AACC, or ACTE) that can translate to institutional improvement and effectiveness. Successful grantees are expected to conduct follow-up professional development for the institution based on information gleaned from the national conference. Unlike Mini Grants, the Professional Development Grants are specifically designed to provide travel expenses. Applications should have an institutional rather than personal or departmental value. Professional Development Grants are funded by the CSI Foundation. Funds are not restricted to instructional departments alone, as all divisions of the institution are encouraged to seize these opportunities for institutional innovation.

Specific Proposal Guidelines

Grant proposals should include:

  • Attention to institutional improvement in support of the Strategic Plan;
  • Conference agendas in support of the topical area being explored;
  • Specific plans for institutional communication and dissemination of information.

In addition, the following specific guidelines apply to the Professional Development Grant proposals:

  • Currently approved national conferences for purposes of this opportunity are NISOD, ACTE, and AACC. Other conferences are subject to further consideration and must demonstrate potential for broad institutional impact.
  • Applicants submitting Professional Development Grant proposals must use the CSI Common Grant Application.
  • Applications must be submitted electronically to tharmon@csi.edu by midnight of the due date. Please note that your application must signed by your supervisor and Dean/AVP/VP for consideration. Any application received incomplete or after the deadline will not be accepted.
  • Allowable and restricted expenditures are listed on the CSI Common Grant Application form. Special allowances for travel and food are made for these Professional Development Grants.
