Course Description

CHEM 101 Available: fall, spring, summer 5 Cr Hrs

Introduction to Chemistry

A systematic treatment of chemical principles and their

application. Topics include nomenclature, periodicity,

reactions, equations, stoichiometry, solutions, gases, and

introduction to the theories of the atom, equilibria, acid-bases,

redox, and radioactivity. This course is suggested for

students who have not taken high school chemistry. CHEM

190 is recommended to be taken concurrently as a review of

math skills. Corequisite: CHEM 190, MATH 108 or higher, or
