Background/Personal Information

I was born in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. I was raised among prickly pears, Magueyes and a culture so rich that I still earn interest on my invested early years. For the other half of my life, I have lived in the United States namely Arizona and Idaho. In the former state I met my husband Andy. We are raising our four children, Teresa, Christopher, Carlos and Marcelino. We have warmed up to life in the northwest despite the winters. Friends, faith and fresh air keep our furnaces lit, making Idaho our real home.

Teaching Philosophy

Just like learning a trade or a skill, Spanish is best learned hands-on, or at least ears and vocal cords on. Student participation is not only encouraged, but an essential part of my classes. Fortified with Hispanic culture, humor and current events, these courses offer entertaining yet challenging ways to learn. Daily workbook and audio-tape assignments are combined with lecture, dialogue, guest speakers and videos to round out the learning experience. Unit tests are made up of short answer, fill in blanks and short essay questions. Oral proficiency is also evaluated.
