Ph.D. Ecology and Evolutionary, University of Illinois at Chicago

B.S. Biology Rhodes College

Background/Personal Information

Nolan Bielinski's priority teaching responsibility is General Ecology, BIOL 209. Nolan implements techniques and lessons learned while working with the forest service to make the class current and applicable to local environmental issues. He places emphasis on the field component of his course, implementing outdoor labs and projects in many of the fantastic natural areas Twin Falls has to offer.  Several of his labs and case studies incorporate his graduate research on frog soundscapes. Through guest speakers, volunteer oppurtunities, and research sites, Nolan's ecology course has developed connections with local land management agencies (like the US Forest Service, US FIsh and Wildlife, and Idaho Fish and Game). His ultimate goal is to make this course the best one offered at CSI!

Nolan is also the Dual Credit Liaison for CSI's biology department. He travels accross the state to evaluate dual credit classes offered by Idaho's high schools. He has implemented several changes to the biology program's requirements, curriculum, and standards to improve the quality of these classes. He strives to make this statewide program consistent, rigorous, and efficient.
