“People think that stories are shaped by people. In fact, it’s the other way around,” wrote novelist Terry Pratchett. In this class we will spend time exploring how the stories in our lives—whether told to us by other, or told to us by our own selves—give shape to our ideas, experiences, and beliefs. This isn’t a creative writing class, but a class designed to examine the important influence narratives have on who we think we are and what we think about ourselves.
