Industrial Maintenance Technology (Millwright) course 2/24/2014

Registration for the College of Southern Idaho’s Industrial Maintenance program has been extended for one month to allow more students to sign up. Offered through the College of Southern Idaho’s Workforce Training Network, the one-year, non-credit program, which is also known as millwright training, will meet from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays this year. The new start date for the class is Monday, Feb. 24. Classes will continue through Dec. 19 at the CSI Wind Energy Building at 496 Madrona Street in Twin Falls.

The course is broad-based enough that students who earn their certification will satisfy the entry requirements for many jobs in food processing, manufacturing, and mining industries. Students will receive foundational skills in blueprint reading, problem-solving, rigging, vibration analysis, installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment, basic welding, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, OSHA safety and CPR, industrial tools and equipment, electronics, repair and fabrication, shaft alignment, and preventive maintenance.

Men and women who are interested should inquire as soon as possible as class space is limited. The cost for the course is $1,000 per session for three sessions – spring, summer, and fall. Fees can be paid per session. The textbooks for the course cost approximately $300.
