The College of Southern Idaho Athletic Department lost one of its own Tuesday morning. CSI Volleyball Head Coach Heidi Cartisser passed away December 19, 2017, at home. Cartisser not only played for the Golden Eagles when she was younger but most recently has been coaching the CSI Volleyball team for the past 12 years. During her time as head coach, Cartisser led the CSI Volleyball program to seven Region 18 Championships and 3 NJCAA National Championships. Through the years Cartisser also has been highly respected by her peers, earning four Region 18 Coach of the Year honors and three American Volleyball Coaches Association West Region Coach of the Year awards. Just this fall, Cartisser led CSI to a runner-up finish at the NJCAA National Tournament and earned District Coach of the Year.
Heidi's husband, Jim, has been her assistant coach and the couple has five children. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in the CSI Gym under the direction of Farnsworth Mortuary. The funeral will be streamed live at https://live.ksl.com/#/?_k=pj7mls.
