19th annual Herrett Camp-In 4/7/2017
Time: 1:00 PM to 1:00 PM

– The Herrett Center at the College of Southern Idaho will hold its 19th annual Science Camp-In overnight event April 7 and 8. This program is designed for students in third, fourth, and fifth grades who are interested in learning about science in a fun, engaging environment.

Participants are invited to the museum for an evening of science workshops, a planetarium show, an observatory sky viewing session, and other fun activities. Science Camp-In is designed to show students a variety of science applications and to demonstrate the many fields of science that they could study at CSI in the future.

Each participant will have an opportunity to select two workshops from a list of exciting options led by CSI faculty and students. Workshop titles include: ‘The Sun in a Box,’ ‘Birds, Beaks, Barf, and Bottles,’ ‘Cool, Hot, and Colorful Chemistry,’ ‘Edible DNA,’ ‘Reptile Wranglin’, ‘Dangerous Art,’ and ‘The Science of Symmetry.’

The evening will culminate with a ‘camp in’ in the museum’s Rick Allen Room where participants will enjoy pizza from Twin Falls’ Pizza Pie Café, watch a movie on the big screen, and sleep in their sleeping bags. All activities will be thoroughly supervised. The students will wake up early for more fun in the morning before being picked up by parents.

The program begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Apr. 7 and children will be picked up at 8 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 8. The cost is $50 per child. Space is limited and usually goes quickly.
