In-Service Week Events

Monday, August 17 - Friday, August 21, 2015

Faculty and staff, this fall’s inservice week promises to be special as we consider that CSI’s original faculty members were preparing for the college’s very first school year. At that time, this was still the Kimes farm, which was one of several locations being considered for the future CSI campus. So much has happened these first 50 years. You’ll probably hear a lot about how far we’ve come and what we’ll be doing to celebrate this important event at this year’s inservice. Watch for opportunities to learn more and also to catch some 50-year giveaways that might be coming your way!

50 Miles for 50 Days

Monday, August 31 - Monday, October 19, 2015

CSI faculty and staff are invited to participate in "50 Miles for 50 Days". We want the CSI community to move - walk, run, cycle, climb, etc. - 50 miles every day for 50 days (31 August – 19 October). This activity can take any form convenient to your day and schedule, but it should get you up out of your office chair and moving. Participation is easy! Just keep track of the distance you cover and report it each day via the “50 Days for 50 Miles” project form. Your distance will be added to that covered by your colleagues and will help us reach our daily goal!

CSI Corn Maze

Thursday, October 1 - Saturday, October 31 , 2015
5 pm - 10 pm

The maze will be open from October 2 to 31 from 5pm to 10pm each night. Different clubs will host each night but every night it will be open. We will again have a warming fire and concessions that vary depending on who’s hosting. The maze this year is designed as a map of twin falls with CSI as the center and campus forming the zero of a giant ‘50’ in the middle. Admission will again be $3/person, children 5 and under are free. We ask that all visitors remain safe by not pulling corn, throwing it, cutting through the rows or smoking while nearby.

The maze was designed, maintained and managed by the Council of Horticulture Students at CSI. I will also be hosting group visits by schedule only on Fridays between 10am and 4pm. Have them call me to schedule groups.

Proceeds go toward buying toys donated to toys for tots, home hospice gifts, families in need of a Christmas, and turkeys to fight hunger. The money is also used to send horticulture students to a Hort Expo in Boise in January. The remainder of the money is used to manage club activities and to promote the student organization and horticulture program. .
